We meet the third Monday of every month during the school year at the New Tampa YMCA.
About Juniorettes
2010-2011 Winners of the Joyce Johnston Junior to Juniorette Interaction Award!
Juniorettes, age 12 – 18, are the youngest members of GFWC Florida Federation of Women’s Clubs. The program for middle and high school girls offers fun, friendship and community service. The girls learn how to organize and operate their non-profit clubs with rewarding results. Many use their Juniorette service hours for scholarships and National Honor Society credits.
Juniorettes continue to grow throughout Florida. Each club must be sponsored by a general or junior club that provides an advisor/liaison and guidance. Our club is sponsored by the GFWC New Tampa Junior Woman’s Club.
Each club has its own personality and determines what is most needed in its home community. All share the General Federation of Women’s Club’s (GFWC) Community Service Program guidelines offering activities in Arts, Conservation, Education, Home Life, International Outreach and Public Issues.
The girls have an annual convention called JASM (Juniorette Annual State Meeting) where they can build friendships and exchange ideas with Juniorettes across the state. Some clubs are still called Little Women, a term that preceded the state name Juniorettes.
Juniorettes are our future & besides that…they are just plain fun!
Meetings
The club meets monthly and has a volunteer opportunity each month.
Last year we had 35 girls from 6th-9th grade. They participated in project such as the High Heel Hike and Fire Safety Day.
