Pasco County Schools Regional Parent Workshops: Where Parents and Families Can Educate
NEW PORT RICHEY, FL 3/9/09 – Pasco County Exceptional Student Education Department and Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resources System Gulfcoast (FDLRS) are presenting four workshops for families and education professionals of ESE students. This is a phenomenal opportunity to learn more about different programs that are in place for Pasco County Students in ESE programs.
The first workshop, “Your Protections Under IDEA – Procedural Safeguards” presented by Oma Pantridge will be on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Seven Springs Middle School’s Media Center located at 2441 Little Road, New Port Richey, FL 34655.
Jackie Choo will present the second workshop, “No Child Left Behind, Access Points and Alternative Assesments” on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Noreen Kraebel will present the third workshop, “Communicating and Partnering with Schools”, on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The fourth and final workshop in the series will be presented by Lynda Hodges on “Transition: What Happens Next” will be on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This is a free event to educate families and professionals on several different aspects of education and transition planning for children in the Exceptional Student Exceptional Department of Pasco County. Childcare will be provided for attendees that pre-register for the program.
All of the workshops will be on consecutive Tuesdays from April 14th to May 5th at Seven Springs Middle School in the Media Center which is located at 2441 Little Road, New Port Richey, FL 34655 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Also, there will be free childcare for families that attend any of the workshops.

About Pasco County ESE Department and FDLRS Gulfcoast
Pasco County School District-based Exceptional Student Education (ESE) staff, school-based teachers and paraprofessionals provide numerous services for students living in Pasco County. Services include teaching students with specific learning disabilities, speech and language programs, teaching students with emotional handicaps, providing physical and occupational therapy as well as teaching gifted students.
The Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System(FDLRS) provides diagnostic and instructional support services to district exceptional student education programs and families of students with exceptionalities statewide. FDLRS supports the State education goals of high student achievement, safe schools, and high performing workforce. FDLRS activities reflect these goals and demonstrate outcomes toward accomplishing them. Funding is provided through federal and state dollars through the Bureau of Exceptional Education & Student Services (BEESS).
